The Half Scale Diana Dollhouse Day 2

I began the foundation today. The instructions for this dollhouse have very good illustrations so everything is straight forward so far.

Clamp your foundation with tape and use the 2 pound weights to keep the floor flat while it dries. My kit has a little bit of warp to it but that will not hinder the assembly. You do not need to do anything special to "fix" the warp. It fixes itself during assembly. You just want to keep things clamped and use weights to sort of help it along.

You use the same technique as with other builds. Tacky glue first and then go over all joints with wood glue. This is the bottom of the dollhouse, which is hidden from view so you can be generous with the wood glue, as it will not be visible.

Your foundation has to be dry and sturdy before you can move on to the next step.

During assembly, you might want to keep a damp towel nearby to wipe your hands of glue. A good place to keep it, so it doesn't wet your work surface, is in a styrofoam bowl.

The half scale version of this dollhouse does not come with the silk screened windows. The kit has transparent window sheets that you cut to size when you are ready to install them. The "silk screening" has already been created with the filigreed wood mullions on the windows themselves. I am not sure if the laser cut, one inch scale version of this model features the same thing.
