The Half Scale Diana Dollhouse Day 2

I started building the foundation today. The instructions for the dollhouse include clear illustrations, making everything straightforward so far. Use tape to clamp the foundation and place 2-pound weights on the floor to keep it flat while it dries. My kit has a slight warp, but this won't affect assembly. There's no need to fix the warp; it will correct itself during assembly. Just keep everything clamped and use weights to assist.

The assembly technique is the same as with other projects - apply tacky glue first, then go over all joints with wood glue. Since this is the bottom of the dollhouse and will be hidden, you can use plenty of wood glue without worrying about visibility. Make sure the foundation is dry and sturdy before moving on to the next step.

During assembly, it's helpful to have a damp towel nearby to wipe off glue from your hands. A styrofoam bowl is a good place to keep it so it doesn't wet your work surface.

The half-scale version of this dollhouse does not include silk-screened windows. Instead, the kit provides transparent window sheets that you cut to size when you're ready to install them. The filigreed wood mullions on the windows already create the "silk screening" effect. I'm not sure if the laser-cut, one-inch scale version of this model has the same feature.
