The Brimbles Mercantile Dollhouse Day 9

I assembled the roof next, and it went together smoothly without any issues. Just be careful not to assemble it backwards. Make sure to clamp it tightly. You can wallpaper the interior to match your walls or choose a complementary design, but I opted for a stucco finish.

I mixed a complementary color paint with Greenleaf's dollhouse stucco and applied it to the roof's interior. This part can be fun; I used a brush to swirl the mixture and bounce the brush tips to create texture. Always prime your walls before applying stucco to prevent dark wood patches from showing through.

Once everything is dry, place the roof over the second-floor walls, ensuring it sits evenly on the dormer sides and soffits. Tap it gently with a mallet to settle it in place. Clamp it down, then install the dormer roofs. It’s best to finish them before installation rather than trying to do it later, which can be awkward. The dormer roofs can be tricky; use pressure and a mallet to fit them correctly, ensuring they meet at the top to form an "A" shape for proper trim placement.

The top floor now requires trim work for a neat appearance. Use skewers against the dormer walls and ceilings, cut trim at angles around the openings, and add small wooden dowels to tie everything together. I glued trim around the edges where the wall meets the roof; this not only enhances the finished look but also adds strength to the dollhouse. I haven’t completed all the trim work yet but will return to it once this section is dry.

Finally, I installed the windows and their interior trim.
