Finishing the Attic
Attics require a lot of trim work to look appealing. I added a knee wall along the front roof, which is simply a wider piece of wood placed against the slanted wall, resembling a higher baseboard. I then installed baseboards and corner trim on the remaining walls and finished the trim around the dormer window. Additionally, I completed the back edge trim and added half circles to the corners that were unfinished.
Staircase Landing
This dollhouse does not include railings for the staircase or landing, so I created my own using wide strip wood. The staircase does have a stringer, which I have yet to install.
Shutters
If you want your shutter panels to be a different color from the shutters themselves, paint them before assembly. I chose to make mine all one color, so I assembled them first and planned to paint them afterward.
It is crucial to ensure that all panels are aligned evenly on each shutter. Placing them side by side will help you check their alignment. Use glue sparingly to prevent warping.
Position the shutters next to the windows, maintaining equal spacing at the top and bottom. I had leftover Victorian trim from The Willowcrest Dollhouse assembly, which I used to adorn the tops of the flower boxes on this dollhouse. You can also stencil a nice design on them for added detail.
