Finishing The Attic
Attics always require a lot of trim work in order to look nice. I added a knee wall along the front roof wall, as I mentioned earlier. It is just a wider piece of strip wood, butted up against the slanted front wall, sitting almost like a higher baseboard.
I then added baseboards and corner trim to the rest of the walls. I also trimmed the dormer window opening. I also finished the back edge trim and added the half circles to the corners that I hadn't finished yet.
Staircase Landing
This dollhouse does not bring railing for the staircase or its landing, so I made my own from wide strip wood.
The staircase does bring a stringer, which I haven't added yet.
Shutters
If you plan on making your shutter panels a different color than the actual shutter, you would need to paint them before assembly. I decided to make mines all one color so I assembled them to paint afterwards.
Assembly
The most important thing to remember is to make all of your panels equally aligned on all of the shutters. If you sit them side by side, it will give you a better view of them, so they are all even.
Use glue sparingly, so they don't warp.
Installation
Place the shutters alongside the windows leaving equal distance on the top and bottom.
I had extra Victorian trim left over from the Willowcrest Dollhouse assembly and so I used it to trim the tops of the flower boxes of this dollhouse.
You can also stencil them with a nice design, to give them a little more detail.
