Today, I wallpapered the attic ceilings. It’s best to do this before assembling the rest of the dollhouse. I applied the first coat of paint to the dollhouse and filled all the gaps with spackle to prepare for the second coat. I installed the front roof to see how the wallpaper looks, and it’s turning out well.
I added windows to both bays, but this kit doesn’t include interior trim for them or the attic windows. You can either paint the bays to resemble window casings or use your own trim. Avoid installing any optional trim until the dollhouse is fully assembled, as it can interfere with fitting parts together. I plan to use wooden skewers for trimming around the bay walls.
I built the door and will let it dry overnight so I can fit it into the opening without it coming apart. I also installed the two gable roofs. This dollhouse has a unique roof installation method that resembles a puzzle, where pieces snap together. It’s important to follow the instructions carefully, as this method enhances stability and reduces gaps, minimizing the need for masking tape. However, it can be challenging to get the tabs to slide and lock into place. There are some tabs protruding into the attic ceiling above the gable window that I can’t wallpaper. These same tabs are on the outside roof, which will complicate shingling later.
