The McKinley Dollhouse Week 22

Before proceeding upwards, I completed the drawers, a challenging aspect of dollhouse assembly due to the structure's imperfect angles. Creating functional drawers requires extensive sanding, preferably with a palm sander outdoors to manage dust. Multiple dry fittings are necessary to ensure proper movement. The process involves painting, sanding, and filling gaps with spackle, followed by another coat of paint and light sanding. Additional dry fitting and sanding may be needed as paint can affect drawer movement.

Once the drawers move smoothly, apply the front lattice decoration. Painting the drawer fronts black before attaching the lattice creates an illusion of depth. Sand and fill around the lattice edges for a polished look. To further improve drawer movement, apply soap, petroleum jelly, or lip balm to the edges.

With the drawers in place, I finished by adding back edge trim to all floors and walls for a seamless appearance.
