The Glencroft Dollhouse Day 2

Today, I spent a lot of time staining. I made my own stain by mixing varnish with dark brown acrylic paint. This is just the first coat. Later, I will lightly sand it and apply a clear varnish.

I assembled the upstairs fireplace and wood bin room. This was straightforward since it followed the same logic as the downstairs fireplace. I printed brick paper from my computer and glued it to the back wall of both the fireplace and wood bin room. I also stained the entire wall section of the second floor fireplace and wood bin.

I clamped the chimney together, but I ran out of masking tape, so I had to use duct tape to hold it in place. While duct tape isn't ideal for dollhouses, it works in unfinished areas. I will have masking tape by tomorrow. While everything dried, I painted the ceiling white.

After these simple tasks, I knew it was time to start wallpapering so I could install the ceiling beams. It took some time to understand the instructions for laminating them together to make them thicker. Next, I had to insert them through the wall openings, using a mallet to carefully tap them in place. I made sure to be cautious with my ceiling finishes and used plastic clamps to hold the beams tight against the ceiling until the glue dries.
