After applying wood glue to all the joints and allowing it to dry, carefully remove the masking tape, leaving the areas that need more pressure for last. Let the glue dry completely on the joints. To ensure you cover all joints, position the dollhouse on its side, upright, and upside down as needed.
While the glue dries, assemble the front and basement doors and set them aside. Be especially careful with the front door because it has a window, and acetate windows can scratch easily.
Once the glue is dry, remove all the masking tape from the dollhouse and apply your wall color. Don’t forget to paint the inside edges of all doors and windows. After the first coat dries, sand and spackle any tabs and gaps before applying a second coat of paint. Since there are no partitions or stairs to hold the floors straight, use masking tape to prevent warping. My third floor has a slight bulge in the middle, so I’ve clamped it to the base floor for now.
After the paint dries, glue on the window seats and clamp them securely on the back sides.
Next, attach the bay walls, starting with the middle wall to help align the tabs for the other walls. Use a rubber mallet to tap them into place. Clamp the bay walls and let them dry. Don’t worry about any gaps for now; you’ll address those after wallpapering, which will help cover them up.
