I started working on the exterior by applying paint to the areas I envision for this project. I only put on one coat to get a sense of how it will look. I did paint the foundation, but I couldn't find the color I wanted at the craft store to match the Labre Dollhouse color scheme. Instead, I mixed gray and black to create a charcoal hue.
Mixing your own paint can help achieve the exact color you want, but it has its challenges. You need to blend enough paint to store for touch-ups later, as a new batch won't match the original hue exactly. I painted the foundation trim white and attached it to the dollhouse because it needs to be in place before I start siding.
My camera struggles to capture the true hue of my purple palette, and the flash makes it worse. Trust me, it's a beautiful scheme that I actually like, even though purple isn't one of my favorite colors.
