I created shingles for my dollhouse and stained them a delicate lilac color. I began by crafting roof templates and carefully attaching the shingles using hot glue. To prevent the shingles from warping, I used bottles and masking tape to keep the templates flat. When working with unconventional colors, it's important to proceed carefully.
I first dry-fitted the natural-colored shingled template onto the dollhouse to assess its appearance. Since I wasn't fully satisfied with the original look, I decided to apply the lilac stain. The birch veneer shingles are quite absorbent, so even a single coat of paint will create a stained effect without needing to mix the paint with varnish or gel stain medium. As a precaution, I recommend painting a single shingle separately to test the color's density before applying it to the entire dollhouse.
