Today, I installed Greenleaf vinyl flooring that resembles hardwood. I believe it looks even more realistic than actual wood because it features impressive clapboard grooves once laid down. Each strip must be applied individually to stagger the joints, so some strips will need to be cut while others are left long. It's important to ensure that the joints do not line up in a straight line across the floor.
Although these peel-and-stick strips have an adhesive backing, I added tacky glue to each strip for extra hold. To mark where to cut each strip, use a sharp craft knife on the sticky side. The strips can also be easily cut with scissors. This is why I painted the floor dark brown first; it helps conceal any hard-to-reach areas and prevents white from showing between the grooves and joints. I also painted the fireplace oven doors black and added small round handles made from jewelry pieces.
