The Washington 2.0 Dollhouse Day 9

Today, I completed the interior of the dollhouse. Since it didn't come with any interior trim, I had to create it myself. I used skewers for the ceiling trim and throughout the attic. For the window trim, baseboards, and the edges of the walls and floors, I used thin sticks. I purchased some basswood strips to make the trim for the doorways and the bay window.

To finish the corners of the bay window and the tops of the door entries, I used small wooden dowel caps. I chose not to add trim for the attic window due to its curved shape. This window can be easily covered with treatments, but you could also cut your own trim from 1/8" foam core using the exterior trim as a template. However, this option only works if you plan to paint your trim, which wasn't suitable for my project. If you have power tools, you can use a similar method to cut wooden trim from a 1/8" basswood slab. Balsa wood isn't ideal for this purpose, even though it can be cut with scissors or a craft knife. Its softness makes it prone to breaking and cracking when trying to shape curves.

I had some leftover white lace ribbon for the windows and white bows for the corners. Finally, I varnished the floors and touched up the ceilings. I also added a small piece of checkerboard wallpaper over the chimney slot opening in the attic.
