The Sugarplum Cottage Dollhouse Day 8

This dollhouse includes some tab-and-slot furniture pieces that are ideal for creating a medieval, rustic look. I assembled, stained, and varnished them. When putting these furniture pieces together, use glue sparingly to avoid it being visible on the finished product. Keep in mind that wood glue doesn’t dry clear, so if you don’t plan to paint the pieces, it’s better to use tacky glue.

You can choose to stain the furniture before or after assembly. However, remember that stain does not penetrate glue, and glue does not stick to stained surfaces. This can create challenges no matter which option you select. Personally, I prefer to assemble first and then stain.

I use tacky glue sparingly and make sure to clean up any excess glue around the joints. After the glue dries, I sand off any leftover residue. I also added window curtains to cover the area around my large window that couldn't be trimmed.
