The Storybook Cottage Dollhouse Day 7

I'm using printer paper to create templates for my roof before I start shingling. Since the shingles will be light green, the color of the paper doesn't matter. I'll shingle the front roof first and then the gables, similar to how you would apply wallpaper. It's best to start with the front wall and then move to the sides, which will give a clean look where they meet. I'll use hot glue to attach the shingles to the template and tacky glue to secure the entire shingled template to the dollhouse.

Instead of using the kit shingles, I'm using leftover veneer shingles because they have more color variation, while I'll save the kit shingles for another project. I've already applied the corner edges to the porch roof. I haven't glued the shingled panels to the dollhouse yet; I'm just checking their fit first. I need to stain them before gluing them down to avoid any drips on the dollhouse and to ensure I can stain both the edges and fronts of the shingles.
