I modified the verge boards to achieve a more refined appearance. By using basswood strips to trim the gable edges, I created a layered look where the verge boards appear to be positioned behind the new trim. I applied this technique to all gable peaks, including the back cubby hole peak that originally lacked a verge board.
On the front porch peak, I added trim and a pink wooden cap. I also placed decorative wooden caps on the ends of the porch railings as finials.
After construction, it's important to inspect the dollhouse for any exposed tabs or rough areas. These may develop due to wood settling and should be sanded down and refinished. I recommend reviewing the dollhouse a few days after completion to ensure a smooth, polished finish.
I completed the foundation by printing gray stone patterns and applying them to all non-latticed areas.
