Installing the Brackets and Porch Railing
I completed the installation of the top roof vergeboard and trim. Next, I installed all of the brackets, which should be painted and laminated together before installation. The photo on the kit's box serves as a helpful guide for bracket placement. All the brackets fit perfectly except for those for the porch roof, which I'll discuss shortly.
It's important to note that the brackets should be positioned along the underside of the vergeboards and behind the vergeboard trim, which can create issues with the porch roof. As you may know, the porch roof of this dollhouse can have slight inconsistencies once assembled, leading to narrower vergeboards in certain areas. In my case, the ends of the porch were narrower, preventing the brackets from fitting properly. I had to modify these brackets by cutting them to fit, but this adjustment is not noticeable in the final result. So, if necessary, feel free to cut your brackets to ensure a proper fit.
After that, I installed the porch railing. This railing is delicate and may require sanding for a better fit. Fortunately, I did not encounter any particularly challenging areas during installation. Remember to paint or stain your trim before installing it. Also, take a final look at the front and kitchen doors as well as the underside of the porch roof for any touch-ups that might be needed. Once the railing is in place, accessing these areas will be quite difficult.
