Now that the mansard roof panels have been installed, they need to be painted a dark color because I will be staining the shingles gray. I do not want white poster board peeking through between the shingles, so painting the panels a dark color will prevent this from occurring.
They sell black poster board but because you have to apply wallpaper to the interior side of the poster board, you really do not want to use a dark colored one. Its best to use white and then paint the exterior to match your shingle color.
You can use masking tape on the corner edges, if they tend to lift apart or have gaps. Remember to paint the masking tape as well, when you're done.
Now is the right time to also finish the right side wall roof. I textured it to match the porch roof. I used masking tape to protect the vergeboard from the texture. Once the texture was dry, the masking tape can be removed.
I also finally found and installed the missing front and side door trim.
