The Lily Dollhouse Day 13

The third roof is installed just like the porch roof, but it's easier because it's square and doesn't have a tricky edge to worry about. Follow the same steps as before - start with the verge boards, then add the roof trim, verge board trim, brackets, and finally the front trim. The roof trim is simple to install since it sits directly on top of the verge board instead of going over its front edge.

Due to an error in the instructions, I used the wrong piece for the 'Roof Verge Board', which is why it had to be installed in two joined pieces. If you use the correct piece, you won't have this issue.

I began installing the thin cardboard roof panels, which made the process easy. The cardboard bends well, creating a defined mansard curve without putting pressure on the roof parts since it's lightweight and curves naturally. There are some minor warps in the panels, but these will be covered by shingles and dormers. The key point is that I didn't have to exert much effort to achieve the curve, even with the steep slope in a narrow area.

I also finished installing the middle and top bay trim, noting that the middle trim is thicker to match the side trim. Finally, I painted and added window squares to the bottom trim of each window casing.
