The Gloucester Dollhouse Day 15

The Music Room

These are my final murals. I wallpapered the room with fabric, just like the others, and used fabric for the carpet as well. I glued the murals in a pattern I liked and trimmed their edges. Like in the bedroom, this process must be done one mural at a time. It's tedious, but using fabric trim makes it easier because it's flexible and simple to cut, plus there's no need to paint.

Next, I attached the stairwell railing and added trim and finials to it. I also installed an interior door in this room. It comes with the dollhouse, and you can use it for either the second or third-floor door opening. I chose the third floor since the adjacent room will be a bathroom. I used the door casing that came with the kit.

To create raised paneling on the door, I used shingles. I placed two square shingles at the bottom and two octagonal ones at the top to form rounded edges. I filled in the joints with spackle and then painted over them, resulting in realistic paneling.

Additionally, I revisited the front panel to make detailed curtains with multiple layers of fancy trim. I cut the first long lace layer in half and tied each panel, then added various trims as valances. I secured the curtains with hot glue. When making curtains, it's important to remember not to make them too thick around your windows; otherwise, the front panel won't close properly. Use masking tape to hold up your curtains and test by closing the panel, especially paying attention to the middle windows.
