When working on your dollhouse, apply wood glue to floor joints where possible, even though the size makes it challenging. The wallpaper paste will help reinforce these joints, especially when applied around corners. High-quality wallpaper paste becomes extremely hard when dry and can be difficult to remove.
I primed the wallpaper areas with light-colored paint and wallpapered the living and dining rooms in different colors, similar to the staircase. The wallpaper patterns on each side of the staircases align with the wall patterns. I intentionally left excess wallpaper hanging over certain edges where walls will be added, ensuring the paper wraps around corners smoothly. In the kitchen and guest bedroom, there are some unique corner configurations that require careful wallpaper placement.
Before installing the 'Side Wall', I needed to add closet doors and prepare the trim. Since I'm not using hinged doors, I didn't need to finish the interior of the closets. I installed door knobs by first creating holes with a nail and hammer, using cardboard to protect the knobs during installation. I ensured the knobs were positioned consistently by placing the doors side by side and sanded them extensively to fit properly. After installing the closet doors, I added ceiling and flooring trim to the tight corner areas, knowing these would become inaccessible once the 'Side Wall' was in place. Finally, I glued on the 'Side Wall'.
