Shingle templates were a must, for this dollhouse, because the roof has a lot of angles and the area behind the tower is difficult to access. I also did not want to damage my exterior finishes trying to paint these shingles after they were already installed on the dollhouse.
I painted the templates after they were shingled, away from the dollhouse. I then glued the finished templates to their corresponding roof panel. It took quite a while to put these tiny shingles on, one by one but
I used decorative roof trim for the top roof edge.
