I completed the top of the tower using the same quarter-scale shingles I used for the sides, but I painted them copper. I also included the brackets that came with the dollhouse. Many people leave them out when customizing, but I prefer to maintain as much of the original design as possible. The brackets do not interfere with the finishes.
To align your brackets correctly and avoid gluing them too low or too high, place a piece of cardboard or another flat material on top of the tower. This will help prevent the turret from becoming lopsided when placed on top. I added thin trim to the top edges of the tower for a polished look. There's no need to keep the tabs for the turret; it can simply rest on top of the tower.
