The Alison Jr Dollhouse Day 1

I decided to upgrade the home of my Calico Critters from the Vermont Farmhouse Junior to the Allison Junior. I really love this style and had originally considered The Painted Lady, but the Allison suited my Critters better. Fortunately, Hobby Lobby was having a huge clearance sale on dollhouse kits at the time, so I got this one at a much better price than I would have online.

I plan to keep the assembly simple since it will be more of a “play house” than a miniature display, though I do have a few additional details I want to add. While at Hobby Lobby, I found a brochure in the miniatures aisle with a photo of the Allison featuring a really nice shingle pattern, and I want to recreate that on mine. I also spotted a cute screened door and decided to buy it. It’s not a Houseworks component, so I don’t know if the measurements will work for the Allison, but at $4.99, I couldn’t resist and will find a way to make it fit.

I bought the same door without the screen to use as an interior bathroom door in the dollhouse. The other openings will remain walk-throughs.

This will be my last dollhouse assembly. I don’t have room for more, and after downsizing my real home, I’m no longer up for large projects. Thankfully, this is a cabinet-grade dollhouse, so it should be an easy build.
