Creating a dollhouse front door can be intricate, but with careful planning, the process becomes straightforward. The key is to prepare each component meticulously.
Begin by painting the door trims, taking care to leave the small tabs unpainted, as these enable the door's movement without traditional hinges. For the stained glass effect, you can either print a design or create a custom version using craft store supplies. If printing, select a high-quality PDF design scaled correctly. Laminate multiple printouts using a glue stick to create vibrant, wrinkle-free window panels. This technique allows you to showcase the stained glass from both the exterior and interior of the dollhouse.
To customize the door's appearance, consider adding panels. I used birch veneer siding to create bottom panels, painting the top section dark purple and the bottom light purple. Dry-fitting the components helps ensure precise painting and assembly.
Assemble the door by carefully sandwiching the stained glass panels and colored siding together. Use small binder clips to hold the pieces in place and allow the entire assembly to dry completely before installation. Remember that patience and attention to detail are crucial in achieving a professional-looking dollhouse door.
