When assembling the staircase, carefully place the risers and steps directly over the stringer edges, not between them. Proper placement ensures the staircase will fit correctly in your project.
If you want a two-tone finish, complete all painting or staining before assembling the stairs. In my case, I plan to stain the entire staircase after initial assembly. Since this staircase faces the front of the dollhouse and will be visible through the front door and windows, it's important to finish it neatly. The staircase lacks a backing, which means the backs of the risers and steps will be exposed. To achieve a professional look, be sure to clean up any glue drips on the back of the staircase during construction and make sure you finish it as well.
