I stained the shingles with a mixture of brown craft paint and matte varnish. I aimed for a color that wasn't too dark or too light, so I diluted the same brown paint I used for the dollhouse.
When staining shingles, it's important to work in sections and avoid going over the same area twice to ensure an even finish across the roof. The wood filler took the stain perfectly.
I also made some touch-ups to the interior of the dollhouse and completed the interior trim, which required a lot of trim to make the slanted ceilings look polished. I plan to buy hardware for the front door soon and will update the gallery pictures afterward.
To give you an idea of how small this dollhouse is, I placed it next to a large bottle of Aleene's Tacky Glue for scale.
