The Beacon Hill Dollhouse Revisited Week 24

Third Floor Fireplace Design

I designed the third floor fireplace to extend the full height of the wall. I applied wallpaper to both sides of the fireplace area and used printed brick paper to cover the fireplace, which matches the width of the mantel. I created a faux marble finish for the mantel and trim, consistent with the other fireplaces in the project. I covered every surface with brick paper, including the side, floor, and ceiling trim. To prevent exposed raw wood, I first painted the surfaces to match the brick color before applying the paper.

The chimney exterior was assembled strategically. I started with the right side, which allowed me to finish the interior of the fireplace while it was still accessible. Only about half of the interior is visible through the fireplace opening. After completing the right side, I finished the left side of the chimney exterior by reaching through the room's window, knowing this side would only be visible through the window once the dollhouse is complete.
