I really liked the chimney finish on The Lily Dollhouse and wanted to recreate it for my own dollhouse. I recommend assembling the chimney parts separately before attaching them to the dollhouse.
First, I painted the chimney black and the trim dark brown, which matches the brick paper I will use to cover the chimney. This is the same pattern I used for the interior fireplaces. I glued the dark brown trim to the black chimney and then covered it with the brick paper. Since I painted the trim dark brown, the exposed edges blend well with the brick paper. I used a craft knife to cut out openings in the paper so that the black interior is visible. To add texture to the top trim, I mixed spackle with gray paint and painted the flues black. Now, my chimney looks like a real brick chimney.
