The Lily Dollhouse Revisited Week 18

PORCH FLOOR AND FOUNDATION

**Unfortunately Photobucket lost all of the original photos I had taken for this post, so I can only show the finished photos.**

I began work on the porch floor and foundation in order to begin the siding of the dollhouse.

The foundation has to be in place before the porch floor can be finished since there are tabs that go into the porch floor slots. They have to be sanded down and filled with spackle for a proper finish.

I had applied a gray wash to the porch floor at first but decided that it will be too dark, since I plan on staining the porch railing. I changed it to a light gray color instead.

The foundation can be difficult to finish. The installation is pretty straight forward but to make it look good, is another story. It's going to take a lot of sanding, filling in of gaps and clamping to keep it straight and even, in order for it to look correct.

You must paint all of the foundation pieces before assembly. You should also paint the underside of the dollhouse porch a dark color since, this area will be visible if you shine light through the lattice. Raw wood peeking through your lattice, will not be aesthetically pleasant.

It will take several days to get this porch foundation done. Work on it in steps and make sure the spackle is thoroughly dry before you sand it smooth and paint it.

Since it does take some days for the foundation to be completed, I am going to go ahead and begin siding the front wall.
