Porch Floor and Foundation
Unfortunately, I lost all the original photos for this post, so I can only share the finished images.
I started working on the porch floor and foundation to prepare for the siding of the dollhouse. The foundation must be completed before finishing the porch floor because there are tabs that fit into the porch floor slots. These tabs need to be sanded down and filled with spackle for a smooth finish.
Initially, I applied a gray wash to the porch floor but decided it was too dark since I plan to stain the porch railing. I changed it to a light gray color instead.
Finishing the foundation can be challenging. While installation is straightforward, achieving a polished look requires a lot of sanding, filling gaps, and clamping to keep everything straight and even. It's important to paint all the foundation pieces before assembly. Additionally, you should paint the underside of the dollhouse porch a dark color, as this area will be visible if light shines through the lattice. Exposed raw wood would not look good.
Completing the porch foundation will take several days. Work on it in steps, ensuring that the spackle is completely dry before sanding and painting. Since it takes some time to finish the foundation, I will start siding the front wall in the meantime.
